Welcome to the GCSE English Tutoring Blog by Ambition English!
Your Weekly Dose of GCSE English Skills, Study Tips and Set Text Deep Dives.
Whether you’ve just joined Year 10, you’re gearing up for Year 11, or you’re a parent supporting someone through GCSE English – welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.
This blog is designed to help you feel more confident, more prepared, and maybe even (dare I say it)… a little more interested in English!
What You’ll Find Here
Each week during term time, I’ll post clear and engaging content focused on helping GCSE students succeed in AQA English Language and Literature. Here’s how the weekly structure works:
Monday: GCSE English Literature Set Text Deep Dives
Breakdowns of key moments from Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, A Christmas Carol, Jekyll and Hyde, An Inspector Calls, as well as from the AQA poetry clusters (Power and Conflict, Love and Relationships, Worlds and Lives). Close analysis. Themes. Language techniques. It’s all here.
Wednesday: Word (or Quote) Of The Week
We’ll zoom in on a high-value word, quote, or concept that’ll sharpen your writing and interpretation. Ideal for vocabulary, exam prep, and boosting clarity.
Friday: GCSE English Language Skills
Alternating between Paper 1 and Paper 2, I’ll offer guidance on tackling tricky questions, improving structure, and writing with flair.
Saturday: Study And Revision Tips
How do you actually remember quotes? What’s the best way to revise for English? What exactly are examiners looking for? These weekend posts focus on smart, practical strategies.
