How Lessons Work
All of my GCSE tutoring lessons are delivered online
Online Via Zoom
Convenient and interactive, using screen sharing and collaborative documents so you can easily follow along. I send a secure meeting link for each session.
One to One Sessions
Focused entirely on your goals, I give regular feedback and detailed guidance to help you improve between sessions. After each session I can share key notes to help you consolidate what we’ve covered.
Flexible Approach
We’ll start by identifying strengths and areas for improvement, then plan a path forward. Lesson times and content will always suit each student’s needs and schedule.
Lesson Pricing
Each one-to-one lesson lasts 60 minutes and is priced at £40 per hour. For families who prefer to plan ahead, I also offer a block of 4 lessons for £120 (a saving of £40).
Lessons are available Monday to Saturday between 10am and 8pm, giving you plenty of flexibility to find a time that works around school and other commitments.
To confirm a booking, payment is made in advance – at least 24 hours before the lesson. Payment is usually made by bank transfer. Payment details and any regular schedule will be agreed in advance so everything runs smoothly.
Cancellation and Lateness Policy
I understand that plans can change, but to make sure lessons run smoothly for everyone, I have a simple cancellation and lateness policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson, please give at least 24 hours’ notice.
–Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice (or missed sessions) are charged at the full lesson rate as it’s often not possible to fill the slot at short notice.
–If you are running late, the lesson will still finish at the originally agreed time. For example, if a 1-hour lesson is due to start at 5pm and you arrive at 5:15pm, the session will still end at 6pm. If you are very late, I will remain on the Zoom call for the first 20 minutes, but after that time the session may need to be rescheduled. The lesson will still be charged in full.
-If I ever need to cancel a lesson, I will always give as much notice as possible and offer to reschedule at a time that suits you.
-If you cancel a lesson and you give 24 hours’ notice, and you have already paid in full, I will refund the lesson price promptly, unless you would like to reschedule at a time to suit you.
Thank you for understanding – keeping to these arrangements helps ensure that all students receive a consistent and fair service. It also ensures that lesson times are used effectively and allows me to plan ahead for all my students.
Who I Work With
I work with students of all abilities – from those aiming for top grades to those who need extra help to build skills and confidence. My experience includes working with students who are:
- Preparing for GCSE exams (Years 10 & 11)
- Starting early in Year 9
- Resitting GCSE English Language
- Adults resitting after a break from education
What to Expect From The First Session
The first session is all about getting to know the student and laying strong foundations for future lessons. During this hour we will:
-Talk through current strengths, challenges and goals
-Do a short, low-pressure activity (such as analysing a short extract) so I can see how the student approaches tasks
-Identify priority areas to focus on in future lessons
-End with a clear plan for next steps and how we’ll work together
Even in this first session, students usually come away with a useful tip or skill they can apply straight away. By the end of the session the student will have a clear idea of how I can best support their learning.
